Who is the charter client?

The charter client is the person who concludes the charter contract with Pitter Yachtcharter. This does not necessarily have to be the skipper.

Who are the fellow travellers?

Each crew member entered in the online crew list is considered a fellow traveller and is therefore insured. Insurance cover for each individual fellow traveller is only guaranteed if the details are entered in the Pitter Yachtcharter online crew list at least 7 days before cancellation. We therefore expressly advise you to complete the crew list as soon as possible.

For which journey does this insurance apply?

The insurance is valid for all destinations arranged by Pitter Yachtcharter.

What does this insurance cost me as a charter client?

This is a service provided by Pitter Yachtcharter. There are no additional costs for you as a client. The insurance is included in the charter price free of charge.

Which data is necessary for the conclusion of the insurance?

The name of the charter client according to the charter contract as well as the charter price and the dates are necessary for the conclusion of the insurance. This data will be transmitted to the insurance company after receipt of the deposit. 

For the insurance cover of all travelling companions and the skipper, the online crew list must be completed at least 7 days before the occurrence of an insured event. If a crew member does not appear in the crew list, he or she is not insured! We therefore recommend that you always keep the online crew list up to date.

If the crew list is not completely filled out, this is one reason that the insurance company does not provide the service! If you cannot find the link to the online crew list, please contact us!

Data protection: Personal data is only transmitted when an insurance benefit is claimed and is only used for the processing of this.

What is the 30 % rule?

If more than 30 % of the crew is absent, the entire booking can be cancelled. If the skipper is among the cancellations, the costs for a replacement skipper will be covered up to € 1.000,00, if this is less than the total cancellation amount.

For example, if 2 families are travelling and an insured event occurs with the family that does not provide the skipper, this affects more than 30% of the entire crew (father, mother, child) and the entire booking can be cancelled.

How to handle a cancellation?

Payment of the cancellation costs is made directly to the charter client, who contacts the insurer directly in the event of a claim.

What must the charter client do in the event of an insurance claim, what steps must be taken and to whom must the documents be sent?

  1. Every insured event must be confirmed by an official notice, a medical certificate, a PCR test in the case of an epidemic or pandemic disease (e.g. COVID-19) or by a court summons.

When does the insurance cover of the "Safe & Risk-Free PLUS Cancellation Insurance" begin?

For the charter client, insurance cover commences upon receipt of the deposit by Pitter Yachtcharter. For each travelling companion, as soon as they are registered on the online crew list. If a crew member’s name does not appear on the crew list, he or she is not insured! We therefore expressly advise you to complete the crew list as soon as possible.

When does the insurance cover end?

The insurance cover ends upon arrival at the destination with completed check-in.

What illnesses are insured?

All diseases which occur after conclusion of the contract  are covered by this insurance. Also included is the diagnosis of an epidemic or pandemic disease such as COVID-19. A medical certificate is required in which the doctor confirms the diagnoses.

What proof is necessary?

Detection for COVID-19: PCR test or quarantine certificate, a rapid/home test is not valid evidence. Tip: The PCR test can be done very quickly in private laboratories. So even if a friend's rapid test is positive, you should immediately take a PCR test - this is the only way you are officially considered a contact person! In which language must the medical notification or PCR test or quarantine certificate for the reason for cancellation be?

Ideally in English or German, but any other national language is also allowed. Good legibility is important here.

Who is covered by this insurance?

All nationalities are insured.

Who counts as a family member?

  1. spouse (by marriage, consensual union or registered partnership)
  2. cohabitants
  3. parents and stepparents
  4. children, stepchildren, foster children, adopted children or children in adoption proceedings
  5. siblings
  6. grandparents and grandchildren
  7. mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and grandparents-in-law
  8. aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews
  9. guardians and legal guardians
  10. carers living in the household who receive remuneration

What happens if a skipper has been booked and he/she drops out?

If the skipper drops out, the entire charter is cancelled and covered. If the remaining crew would like a replacement skipper, the costs for a replacement skipper will only be covered by the insurance if the pro rata costs for the skipper (EUR 1,000.00) do not exceed the total charter price.

Does the insurance come into force if the insured person has already been diagnosed with an illness at the time of booking and if the health conditions deteriorate before the start of the cruise and does not permit travelling?

This is covered by the insurance. A medical certificate is required as proof.

What risks are covered in connection with vaccination or compulsory vaccination?

An officially ordered vaccination requirement for entry into the respective holiday destination is a prerequisite for insurance cover and cancellation is only covered if the insured person is medically unable to receive a vaccination, i.e. if a vaccination can NOT be received due to allergy, pregnancy, illness. This must be confirmed by a medical certificate.

The insurance does not cover cases where vaccination is compulsory but cannot be obtained due to problems with the authorities, e.g. delayed delivery, production difficulties, etc.

What if the insured person has a road accident a few days before the date of departure and there is no possibility of reaching the holiday destination because the vehicle has to be repaired?

This case is not covered by the insurance. The person will have to find a replacement car themselves. However, an accident on the day of arrival is included in the insurance.

What happens if the school holidays are postponed?

A postponement of school holidays is considered a political decision / sovereign act and is therefore not covered.

What happens if the employer suddenly prohibits the employee from travelling to the holiday destination?

This is considered a corporate policy decision and is therefore not covered.

Is insolvency also covered?

No, insolvency is not covered. Pitter Yachtcharter is a stable and secure company. You can read more about this in our KSV rating.

What if the insured person falls ill during the trip or other circumstances require an immediate return home?

The "Safe & Risk-Free Cancellation Insurance" is not a trip cancellation insurance, i.e. everything that happens during the trip is not covered by the insurance. The insurance cover ends upon arrival at the destination upon the completed check-in.

Are repatriation actions, e.g. due to illness in the holiday country, also included in this insurance?

This service is not included in the insurance. It is a cancellation insurance with special consideration of an epidemic and pandemic disease such as COVID-19 and accompanying symptoms such as quarantine, but not a travel sickness or travel accident insurance. The insurance cover ends upon arrival at the travel destination upon the completion of check-in. 

What happens if the insured person falls ill on site and the cruise has to be terminated prematurely?

This service is not included in the insurance. It is a cancellation insurance with special consideration of an epidemic and pandemic disease such as COVID-19 and accompanying symptoms such as quarantine, but not a travel sickness or travel accident insurance. The insurance cover ends upon arrival at the travel destination upon the completion of check-in. 

If the government declares the destination a risk area, can the trip be cancelled or rebooked?

The "Safe & Risk-Free PLUS" Cancellation Insurance does not cover this case, but here our Pitter FAIRCHARTER 19 conditions apply, point: CORONA - special regulation.
