O More Mati - keep the sea clean!

The beach cleaning campaign "O More Mati", initiated by Pitter Yachtcharter, cleans beaches and bays in Croatia with the help of our charter customers.

Our Mediterranean is one of the world's most popular vacation destinations:

  • Over 200 million people live on the shores of the Mediterranean.
  • Every year, over 50 million people visit the beaches and coastal waters.
  • In the popular destinations, up to 75% of the annual waste is generated during the summer months, which unfortunately also impacts the environment.

The Mediterranean has a tough time with its inhabitants and the many visitors who want to enjoy the wonderful natural beauty of the sea and is therefore heavily polluted. Most of the pollution in the sea consists of metal cans and drinking bottles as well as plastic bags and packaging washed up on the beaches and bays by southerly winds.

Tips about on-board waste

Who is affected by the waste?

Of course, marine life - whether animals 🐟 or plants 🌱 - are directly affected by ingestion, entanglement and injuries, as well as by the ingestion of toxic substances. We vacationers and tourists also want a clean beaches, water and bays. 🏖️

Take part in our beach cleaning campaign and win one week's charter

You'll be astonished at what washes up on beaches and bays during the winter and summer months that doesn't belong there, but in the trash. For this reason, we launched our beach clean-up campaign "O More Mati" back in 2014. For all of us, and especially popular with children, such activities are a meaningful occupation during the vacations. If you can also do something good for the environment at the same time, fun and motivation are pre-programmed! 😊

Pictures of past beach cleaning campaigns

This year's beach cleaning campaign starts at the beginning of the season. The competition runs via our Facebook account - the post will be published on 30.04.2024, from then on you can take part in the competition at any time (the exact conditions of participation will also be published there on 30.04.2024).

This is how easy it is:

  • At the start of your charter, our base staff will give you environmentally friendly bags to collect trash
  • Take a photo of yourself helping to keep our environment clean during your cruise
  • Go to our Facebook page and post your photo in the pinned post

With a little luck you can win a charter week for spring/summer 2025! 🍀⛵

O More Mati ... for the sake of our sea!
