Skipper training with Pitter Yachtcharter – safe sailing from the start
With Pitter skipper training you combine hands on practice, experience and genuine sailing flair. Our courses bring together classic sailing instruction with practical training sessions. They are ideal for anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge, gain confidence and take the next step as a skipper.
Classic skipper training, hands on and realistic
We offer a broad range of skipper training for monohulls and catamarans in spring and autumn. Alongside sail handling, anchoring and buoy work, the primary focus is on harbour manoeuvres, since minor damage most often occurs when time pressure rises.
Even experienced skippers can feel the strain when strong winds or weather changes set in. With only one or two weeks of sailing holiday per year it takes many years to build routine, unless you train with intent. This is where our training steps in, practical, realistic and always safety focused.
Information on our skipper trainingCatamaran skipper training, mastering the nuances of twin hulls
During catamaran training you learn how sailing, harbour manoeuvres, anchoring and buoy manoeuvres differ on two hulls. Particular emphasis is placed on handling two engines, precise berthing and unberthing in confined spaces, and the safe setting and dousing of sails. Once you master this different approach you gain confidence, routine and comfort for every cruise.
Tailored, flexible and customer focused
Whether by the berth or as a private crew, all Pitter skipper training in Croatia can be booked in a tailored and flexible way. Many groups of friends choose a spring course to prepare together for their summer holiday. Others prefer autumn to round off the season with a blend of sport and learning, or to build targeted skills after a first cruise.
Tip: If you would like to train together as a group, we are happy to prepare an individual quote tailored to your preferences and dates. This ensures each skipper training becomes a valuable experience, practical, team focused and perfectly aligned with your sailing goals.
Training cruise, a full week of practice
Our training cruise is based on classic skipper training. It spans an entire week and covers all the skills required to plan and conduct a multi day sailing cruise independently.
This course blends theory and practice within a real sailing cruise. It is ideal for skippers, future skippers and crew members who wish to operate as a well tuned team.
Under real world conditions, participants learn:
- how to plan daily legs,
- how to factor wind and weather into route planning,
- and how to lead the crew efficiently.
Beyond navigation and manoeuvres, the focus also lies on teamwork on board. The result is a practical combination of solid instruction, valuable routine and shared sailing experience. It is the ideal foundation for enjoying future cruises with ease, safety and an even greater joy of sailing.
Training cruise with regatta participation, the sporting challenge
As the organiser of numerous regattas, we also offer dedicated regatta training. These courses prepare skippers and crews for regatta participation in the best possible way. Sailors without their own crew also have the chance to get a taste of regatta racing.
This special training focuses on active racing within the fleet. After a short preparation session, where crew and skipper team tune in with one another, it is time to head to the race course. Two experienced skipper coaches accompany the crew on board. One concentrates on tactics and sail trim, the other on manoeuvres, safety and crew coordination. This enables learning, analysis and immediate implementation in a practical way under real yet controlled conditions.
This regatta training cruise is intensive, instructive and exhilarating. It provides ideal learning conditions. You race within the real fleet, apply what you have learned under competitive pressure and experience a challenge that is both physically and mentally demanding.
The training alternates between Pitter organised regattas, the Offshore Challenge and the Croatia Coast Cup. You will learn to make quick decisions, execute precise sail trim and think tactically. Every regatta training cruise becomes an unforgettable experience that blends practice, team spirit and sporting ambition.
